The level of spelling proficiency with young people between 11 and 15 in the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles

This research has very concrete and practical objectives. The aim is to start a vast field survey which will allow to build a corpus of pupils’ productions. With a dictation already used in France, i.e. "Les Arbres de Fénélon“, a grammar questionnaire, a second dictation and a sociolinguistic documentation of the data, a corpus representative of the proficiency level in spelling of pupils at the beginning of their secondary school in the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles will be constituted. The collected data will provide objective information about the actual level of proficiency of Belgian French-speaking pupils, they will be compared with data of former French surveys.
