Research projectFostering Language Teaching Efficiency through Cognitive Linguistics. Director(s) De Knop Sabine, Boers Frank, De Rycker Antoon. Description The aim of the project is to describe "what" (= topics) and "how" the important topics should be taught. It aims at contributing to the integration of grammar and vocabulary learning and teaching in language pedagogy, based on a comprehensive synthesis of how cognitive linguistics (CL) interprets the lexis-grammar continuum. Both in CL theory and in language pedagogy we are still far removed from such integration. Learning a foreign language is a complex process consisting in the simultaneous mastering of both the relevant vocabulary and the main grammatical constructions of that language.
