PhD thesis : Le partenariat UE-Niger: les migrations à l’épreuve des (re)configurations de la gestion de la mobilité

.

Description

In 2015, in the context of the "refugee crisis", the European Union (EU) decided to strengthen cooperation with third countries of origin and "transit" of migrants. Niger, a migratory crossroads in the Sahel-Saharan strip, became one of the first countries to benefit from the European action, which was deployed around a "migration-security-development" triptych.

How can we explain Niger's participation in the externalization of European migration control on its soil? To answer this question, the research focuses on the conditions of implementation of European action in Niger through the study of two mechanisms: the law against migrant smuggling and the biometric control of mobility.
