About the Centre

Founded in 1925, the School of Philosophical and Religious Sciences is a teaching and research center attached to the Facultés universitaires Saint-Louis in Brussels. Crossing the fields of philosophy, theology, religious sciences and human sciences, it achieved a strong tradition of fondamental thinking. The chair of its public lessons was held by some famous scholars, including G. Marcel, E. Levinas, P. Ricoeur, C. Castoriadis, J. Ladrière, J. Kristeva, J. Lacan, M. Foucault, J. Derrida, P. Bourdieu, R. Aron, M. de Certeau, M. de Gandillac, Y. Congar, H. de Lubac, A. Leroi-Gourhan and I. Prigogine. Research is organised along three seminaries, focusing on philosophical reflexion, multireligious exchanges and interdisciplinary approach of theologies. The School has edited a review for some years ("Cahiers de l'Ecole des sciences philosophiques et religieuses", 20 numbers) and is currently publishing its works in the university press collection ("Publications des Facultés universitaires Saint-Louis").
