About the Centre

The Center for Private Law (CePri) has been institutionally recognized as a research center since 2013-2014. Previously, since its creation in 2006-2007, it was constituted in the form of a research pole integrating the Interdisciplinary Seminar of Legal Studies (SIEJ).

The Center conducts individual and collective research projects, giving rise to various symposia or retraining, as well as the publication of books and scientific contributions. Its members also intervene regularly at symposia, conferences and training courses in the field of private law in the broad sense. They also contribute to the development of the continuing education offer (Center of Catholic University Faculties for retraining in law, UB3 conference cycles, Interuniversity certificates in judicial expertise and mediation), and this with the main objective of echoing the research conducted with practitioners.

Since 2015, the Center has published, initially in collaboration with Anthemis, a review of legal watch in matters of contract law, special contracts and Aquilian liability. Since 2018, it has also housed an interdisciplinary research group on conflict management methods, mobilizing researchers from USL-B and UCLouvain as well as external experts around approaches to conflict and its modes of regulation or settlement (legal proceedings, arbitration, conciliation, mediation, collaborative law, therapies, etc.).
