About the Centre

The Belgian Center for Burgundian Studies 1400-1600 was established in 1984 and goes back to the Louvain Chair for Burgundian Studies. It has been a common structure shared by the Université catholique de Louvain (at Louvain-la-Neuve) and the Université Saint-Louis - Brussels until their merging in 2023, and is now a common structure shared by the campuses of Louvain-la-Neuve and Saint-Louis within the UCLouvain. The Center organises lectures and seminars in the fields of History, Art History, and Literary Studies applied to the study of culture and society in the Burgundian dominions (a.o. Duchy and County of Burgundy and Burgundian Netherlands) during the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

Members of the Board are faculty members appointed, before the merger, by the Rector of their university.
